Fun baby shower games to energize your celebrations

Games inject enthusiasm and excitement into baby showers! Well-chosen activities generate a sense of involvement and have the great benefit of getting guests to mingle together. That's especially important if many guests at the shower don't know each other. Games are excellent ice-breakers at parties.

Having said that, do check with the expectant mother on whether she prefers to have games at her shower. Some don't want such activities at all. If that's the case, go with her preferences. Others enjoy the fun and want to have at least a few games at their event.

While choosing activities, keep the kind of shower you're having in mind. Is it a co-ed shower where you're inviting many men as well? If so, avoid overtly 'girlish' activities. Have something that will appeal to men as well as women. If your shower is meant to be a somewhat formal event, then stay away from totally goofy games.

Involve mom-to-be in selecting party activities. She may not be comfortable with some of them -- for example, she may not want to have any game that'll involve measuring her tummy. As always, go with what she wants.

It is possible to purchase games for baby showers. The advantage is that you can be up and running in an instant, particularly with the kind you download off the net and print at your end. On the other hand, there's a lot to be said for brainstorming your own original games. People always enjoy the new and unexpected! Either way, have tons of fun!
